Re: The man in the middle
From the picture with that article East is close enough and has a clear unobstructed view.
No excuses , it was just a terrible decision from a ref who always cheats us

It’s also a bit rich Clattenburg having a dig at a referee for being in the wrong position.
The man who gave handball against Piquionne at Wolves from 30yds away with the player having his back to him to cheat us out of a last minute winner.

Re: The man in the middle
I believe CLATTENBURG said East was dropped for not being fit enough...and did not keep up with play vs Burnley...
...thus missing the Diabg penalty..

Ah, ok.

Thanks for the info

No, it's because he failed the last fitness test so was left out of the elite list I believe.

Re: The man in the middle
I thought I heard the commentators on my stream say that Roger East had reffed very few PL games recently.

Was this because Saturday's match marked the end of a previous punishment, exiling him to the outer reaches of the game, for being shit before?

Re: The man in the middle
I think one issue might be that they are quite short of 'elite' referees right now, so perhaps it doesn't happen as much as it should do.

Re: The man in the middle
I had no idea. I remember hearing of it once or twice, but I thought it didn't really happen. Good!

I think I assumed it didn't because Bobby Madley didn't disappear after what he did to us at Bournemouth last year.

Re: The man in the middle
Don't clubs also assess the ref's performance in a way that is fed back to the FA after each game?

Re: The man in the middle
OTB

It happens all the time, but unlike a player getting a red and a ban it's not exactly announced

Re: The man in the middle
You never really hear of refs being dropped for a couple of weeks, or sent to the lower divisions as punishment for bad displays - but surely some performances warrant it? He missed loads at the weekend - what does the referees assessor do?

Trevor B 3:49 Mon Nov 5
Re: The man in the middle
B

PGMOL monitor and review refereeing performances, there quite probably was an official in the stands analysing East.

Re: The man in the middle
Surely there should be a mechanism for East to get pulled up over such a fucking terrible display on Saturday?

Re: The man in the middle
Has a keeper ever conceded a pen for wiping out someone trying to head a ball?

Must say the Arsenal keeper looks a bit on the dodgy side. Expect Cech will be back in asap

Re: The man in the middle
Yet a forward only needs to brush against a keeper even if winning the ball and he'd be penalised

El Scorchio 12:44 Sun Nov 4
Re: The man in the middle
Ashy- I wondered that. Van Dyjk got absolutely wiped out by the Arsenal keeper who missed the ball completely at one point.

I’m surprised he didn’t roll around on the floor like a baby for 2 minutes afterward. Almost all players do that with a fraction of the contact usually.

Re: The man in the middle
Plenty of shit decisions yesterday as MOTD showed, but how the hell can the Arsenal and Liverpool keepers get away with clattering the opposition after flapping at crosses????
Both pens in my book, but like ours not mentioned either.

Sven Roeder 7:48 Sun Nov 4
Re: The man in the middle
Apologies to the linesman. As shown on MOTD the first Burnley goal WAS onside.
So it was just ...
a blatant pen for Diangana ignored
red for a dangerous tackle on Obiang
red for a two footed assault on Diangana
